Surprise Me God

Let me first start by saying that every morning on my way to work I LOVE listening to Christian Radio. Last week the DJ's were challenging the listeners (and themselves) to ask God to surprise them every day by just simply opening the day with saying "Surprise me God." So it's something I've been trying to do lately. And yet again God never ceases to amaze me...

About 8:30 this morning I recieved terrible news. News that I've been praying NOT to hear since April. But it happened. And I was crushed. I knew it was a possibility, but had confidence that God had this under control and it would all be ok. So I was quickly reminded to ask God to surprise me, yet again.
So all morning I continued to pray, Surprise me God. Surprise me God. I'm serious I'm trusting you and I really need you to surprise me. Your timing is rarely early, but never late.
And His plan never fails. His love, grace, and mercy never fail. By 10:30am (yes only two hours) I heard from my husband and he had good news! Just the news I needed after my bad news. Like I couldn't have asked God for anything more perfect to happen after this morning. Really God? In two hours (or what I only knew as two hours, but I'm sure this was his plan much longer than that) you can take what seems to be crushing me and turn it all around to reassure me that my faith in you is exactly what you're asking for. Here I am, Lord. What do you want from us next? Surprise me! Give me mustard seed faith so that I can move moutains for you. Surprise me God.
He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
Matthew 17:20

Amber, this is so very encouraging and motivating! I love reading your blog and hearing how God is moving in your life and how Hudson changes daily! It's inspiring! Thanking you for sharing this and reminding us that we have to trust God during the good and bad and lean on him always!

Thank you Sarah. I'm just trying to be transparent like God calls us to be and I figure this is the best way to do it. I hope you are doing well. Let me know if you need anything, especially while David is gone. I'll be praying for you guys!
