Copper Mountain Vacation: Visiting Breckenridge

One of our favorite parts of our Colorado vacation is going to Breckenridge for the day.
We go to the hat store. It's a family favorite. Hudson isn't really sure about it yet....
They have so many different types of fun hats and wigs so you can stand out on the slopes!
We always go to our favorite pizza place, Fatty's. And it leaves us feeling just like that...
It's completely delicious and such a fun tradition to always go to the same place!
Isn't it beautiful there?! It was a sunny and warm day so it was perfect to walk around the shops!
We also did something we have never done before and rode the gondola! It connects the town to the ski village. I loved it!
You can tell by the look on Hudson's face that he was quite scared and unsure of what was going on. But the ride down, he enjoyed a little more.
These are some of my awesome family members (above and below)!
Can't wait to go back! Summer trip anyone?!

Copper Mountain Vacation: Daily Fun!

We always do the same thing each ski day we are there.
We head out in the morning to hit the slopes right after breakfast.
Then come back for lunch, a small break, and then head back out to the slopes for the rest of the day.
This year I only skied one day and spent the rest of the time hanging out with this precious guy! And our poor hurt Ashton :(.
The great thing about our condo is that we could ski right up to it at the end of the day!
In the evening, we all ate dinner together then rode the bus to hang out in the village.
Hudson loved riding the bus! He sat in a seat by himself and just watched all that was going on.
The village is fun because there are shops to walk around, the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, restuarants and more!
We also spent a lot of time just relaxing around the condo. Skiing is a lot of work! And snowboarding too! Ryan and Nick took their shot at snowboarding and found out how hard it really was. YIKES! They were pretty beat up at the end of their days!
It was nice to just hang out as a family, have no agenda and relax! That's what vacation is all about right?!
Hudson also took his first few steps while we were there! He is getting so close to being a full time walker. I can't imagine him walking all the time because I'm so used to him crawling. Anyway, it's such a fun memory that he took his real first steps in Colorado!

Copper Mountain Vacation: The Condo

Ok, I'm back tracking. Two weeks ago began Spring Break 2011!I am trying to break this trip up into a few posts so it's not too long, but I want to get it all down for memories sake. It was a great time with my entire family. I'm so glad we all got to go together.
One of the most important parts is finding a great place to stay at the mountain. We had our "regular" condo, but the last few trips we have changed it up. I think that this is going to be the new "regular."
The living area was great because there was a lot of floor space for Hudson to play! (It's funny how your view of things change when you have a child, i.e. space for toys is a priority!)
The kitchen and dining area!
This kitchen had all the amenities we needed! It's so nice because we cooked the whole time and really only ate out twice besides our travel days.
 The bunk room
The master bedroom
The master bathroom
The bedroom we stayed in.
And our bathroom. Every bedroom had a bathroom plus their was an extra bathroom off the living room. It nice to have when 11 people need showers!
The game area-we didn't play one game of Foosball, but Hudson sure thought it was fun!
The glass windows you see to the left are to the covered porch which had couches and a table. We could sit in there and watch everyone ski up to our condo!
We had so much fun here and already can't wait to go back! Up next....fun pictures of the trip!

Play Date Buddies

This is my buddy Ayden.
He came for a play date on Saturday.
We played legos on the fireplace, fed the dogs animal crackers, shared a snack, and got out as many of my toys as we could.
We had so much fun! And mommy likes to get to talk to his mommy. Her name is Aunt Candace.
I hope mommy takes me to play with him at his crib soon.
He is such a cool dude!

14 Months Old

Today is Hudson's 14 month birthday!
Here are some of the things going on in your life:

You are an ACTIVE toddler! You have taken a few steps and are so closer to being a walker. I'm afraid I will never catch you once you are off.
You are climbing everything right now! Your favorite thing is the stairs.

You love to sing into the microphone on your Vtech and keep us extremely entertained!

You love to play in the kitchen and with the dog bowls. You especially like the water bowl.

You still love love love the dogs. I'm not exaggerating. Marley is not very excited about you walking while holding onto her back...

Your favorite game is "Where's Hudson?" You use the blanket or your hands to play peek a boo.
Your favorite thing on TV (and the only thing you pay any attention to) is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I can't even explain what happens when you see it and how much you want to watch it. Your favorite part is the Hot Dog! song and that's what you call the show also. You now get the remote and tell us "hot dog." It's pretty ridiculous, but so cute at the same time.

You talk and talk and talk! You say mom, da da, ma ma (which we think is Mae Mae), hot dog, hot, dog, uh oh, papa (when you want to) and non (Jon). When you want something you say "na na na." This one is hard to figure out because it doesn't sound like want-not sure what word you associate that with, but it means your hungry. Or want a toy. Maybe it means now! ha! You still use baby sign language too. You sign more, up, finished, hat, and yes sir. I hope I didn't miss any....

You are still a good eater for the most part. You still love your carbs the most, but aren't too picky. The funniest thing you do right now is suck the juice out of the orange slices instead of eating them. You apparently like juice that way rather than in a cup. You are in love with milk and I'm afraid that breaking the bottle is going to be quite the job. We are slowly, but surely working on it.

You know have 12 teeth! You just recently got in your four canine teeth (all at the same time)! Your smile is so sweet and we get to see it a lot which makes this mommy very happy!

You're sleep schedule is still never consistent, but I am happy to say that you do sleep through the night a lot. You just never know when it will be. If you wake up it is around 3am. For the most part you go to bed around 9-9:30 and wake up no later than 8am. You take one two hour nap five days a week. The two days you are at the babysitter you refuse to keep to your sleep schedule. I guess it's just too much fun!

You are still wearing size 3 diapers and 12 month shirts. You have a serious problem with pants...6 months are too short and 12 months just swallow you.

You seem to be getting taller, but I haven't measured you to see your growth yet. Mommy will get right on that! I can't believe how big your look these days!

This past month you made your first trip to West Texas, met your buddy Brax, and took a vacation in Colorado. It sounds like a pretty good month to me!

Mommy and Daddy love watching you every day. You are so fun to be around! Aunt Erin made me buy "All the Things I Love About You" by LeUyen Pham recently and it perfectly describes our how I feel.
Side note: If you're a mom to a little boy you NEED this book!

There are oh so many things I love about you.
I love the way your hair looks in the morning.
I love how you look in pajamas. Although getting you out of them is another story.
I love how you eat.

And when I think I can't possibly love you any more,
the next moment I do.
There are so many things I love about you.
But mostly, I just love....
YOU.
Happy 14 months sweet boy!

Shrimp Tacos

I've been working on this post for a while, but it's just now making it up! I wanted to try something new so I made shrimp tacos on Sunday evening. After looking over a few recipes online, here is what I did. I hope you can use this delicious recipe! We really enjoyed it!
Ingredients:
Shrimp
Tortillas
Black Beans
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Shredded Cheese
Sour Cream
Cilantro
Garlic
Olive Oil
Cumin
Lemon juice
Lime juice

Sides:
Chips and Salsa
Spanish Rice

I coated the shrimp in olive oil, garlic, lemon juice and cumin. I let them rest in the mixture for a bit and then cooked them! While that was cooking I made a sour cream sauce by mixing fresh cilantro, cumin, lime juice and a dash of salt with the sour cream. I would like to add a little more to this sauce next time, maybe another spice, but I'm not sure what!
The best thing about this meal is that it really takes no time! I topped my taco with black beans, lettuce, cheese and sour cream sauce. Ryan enjoys rice, cheese and TONS of sour cream. Hudson mostly enjoyed the black beans with a small hint of tomato and shrimp. What are your favorite taco toppings?
ENJOY!

Catching Up

Since my last update we have been kind of busy. Mostly busy with cutting teeth, four of them to be exact. Yes, FOUR. I'm not sure why it is that they come in the masses for my little guy, but he has had it a little rough.
Which means, we didn't do this very well.
Or this either. My little eater, wasn't much of an eater at all. But I don't blame him. If my mouth hurt that bad I wouldn't eat either.
But we have been ALL of this. A ham. A flirt. Although he plays shy, he sure does know how to show those pearly whites. And now we have 12 accounted for in that adorable mouth of his. He now has his four canine teeth. And no he's not a dog. Even though he sure loves his dogs. He chases them around the house all day long and he says hot dog more times than I could count in a day....that's another update for another time.
HOT DOG!
